What are the advantages of aluminum vs. ceramic wash basin?

I never came across aluminum wash hand basin. There are stainless steel or steel enamel basins that are now getting more popular to use within residential and domestic application. Steel enamel thickness can be as little as 6mm, which you can never achieve with ceramic basins. Stainless steel can be even thinner. Stainless steel can be formed as a cold press - so can mimic round bowls of ceramic shapes, but also can be formed in angular shapes, with right corners, which is almost impossible with ceramic. Light load of metal is also an advantage, opposed to heavy ceramic, which also allows for super sizing basins and create multiple basins in one piece or tray like designs. Stainless steel gives you a useful, industrial, clean, hygienic feel. Steel enamel is more contemporary, edgy, and gives you a modern feel. But beauty of a perfectly glazed ceramic bowl is still hard to beat.

Aluminum metal rapidly develops a thin layer of aluminum oxide of a few millimeters that prevents the metal from reacting with water. When this layer is corroded a reaction develops, releasing highly burnable hydrogen gas. This would be probably the reason aluminum is not widely use for wash hand basins.
